Lottie Longman: a florist steeped in history

Flowers, foliage and nature are in my blood having been born into a family of highly regarded florists and gardeners.

As a child I was surrounded by the beauty of nature, gardens and flowers and it was a natural step for me to want to learn more. I started my career as a florist in London where I gained valuable experience working for the family business. I found my own unique style, built up my portfolio of work, established my client base and made very strong connections in the floristry world.

We decided to relocate to the stunning landscape of East Lothian in Scotland. This move allowed me to create a new world of floristry for myself.

One of my biggest joys moving to the countryside is having the space and time to grow my own cutting garden. I take great pride in growing my own flowers and foliage and using these in many of my creations. Sustainability is very important to me, as it is for many florists, and I have moved away from artificial materials such as foam and reverted back to using traditional methods such as chicken wire.

I love the seasons and all the beauty that each brings. Spring bursting with colour and passion after a long winter sleep. Summer with its gentle breezes and sweet scents. Autumn slowly bringing the colours and vibrancy before plunging us into the depths of winter and the delights a hard frost can bring us.

I love to bring all the seasons to life in my work and make dreams come true.
